1. Ideal Client Questionaire

Every business needs their ideal client because who wants to work with somebody they hate? This takes time and the questionnaire will help you sort all of this out. When you (and we) know who your ideal client is, it is soooo much easier to create your brand visuals, create a site for them, and write copy they can relate to.

2. Your Branding Homework

By asking yourself these powerful questions and going through this workbook, you’ll (and we’ll) gain a lot of clarity on who are you, your business, and most importantly, your “why”. This will help everyone know which direction you should go in. You can then focus all your energy and efforts and grow your business quickly.It’s important to outline where you see your brand going and all the moving parts so that we can craft an online presence that not only meets you where you are but stays with you as you grow.

3. Site Strategy & Copy Creation Workbook

I made the Site Strategy and Copy Creation Workbook when I realized that a common pain point for my clients, was figuring out what to say on the pages I was creating for them. Now, I’m not a copywriter, by any means, however, I love to help out my clients in any way possible! The workbook includes a checklist of things that should be included on each web page, so you don’t forget anything. I give some general advice on copywriting so that you can tell a story in an effective way. Most importantly, the workbook includes my favorite exercise to identify your target market. You’ll work on choosing just one person to speak to on your website and go into detail about who that person is. Although this is an optional part of the process, I really encourage my clients to work on any parts of the workbook that they find helpful!

*Once you’re shown your wireframes during out Kick-Off Meeting, you get the exact idea of the copy and content you’ll need. Most importantly, the workbook will refer back to your ideal client questionnaire. When writing your copy it’s best to talk to one person throughout your website.

4. Domain, Hosting, and WordPress Admin Set Up

These 3 steps are crucial to actually getting you online and you need them all. Domain is what you type into your URL (www.babetoboss.co) Hosting is what allows you to see and actually use the site. WordPress Admin is the backend of the site where I go in and where you can create pages, blog post, products, and more. Below are videos on how to set all 3 three things up.

5. Brand Visuals Pinterest Prep

Some people get confused because they think they have to for a website mockup or branding mockup that they like and that is definitely not the case! Or I see clients just start pinning things related to their “life goals” and not actual images to represent their brand. It’s important to have consistency in regards to the feel, color scheme, and overall vibe but it’s good to have variety in types of pictures. 

Typography:  an element of typography is always good to include in a mood board. This can be a quote that reminds you of your brand and has your colors, or just a font that sticks out to you.

Color:  this helps in establishing your color palette. If you don’t have one initially in mind, that’s okay. After pinning a few things, you’ll see a color scheme start to form and you can go from there.

Texture & Patterns:  your designer typically create a brand pattern to be used with your collateral, so it’s good to give an idea of what you see for yourself! Sometimes patterns will come up when searching for your brand colors, but you can always search “fur” “texture” “brush” etc. to make something shake.

Inspiration:  your board isn’t complete without images that truly inspire you and your brand! Just keep in mind your brand’s vision and messaging to make sure you’re pinning all the right stuff!


CREATION

 

Now that you have a good idea of what kind of images make a good Pinterest board, start pinning! It’s important to get anywhere from 20-50 images and make sure you pin the things that truly grab your attention. It’s okay if your board isn’t perfect initially, that’s what the next step is for.

When it comes to searching,  try to search for things that are relative to your brand. For instance, when creating the new mood board for search things like “gold office decor” “motivational quotes” “fur rugs” “blush” “flat lays” etc. 

 

REFLECTION

 

Here’s where you’re going to start bringing things in a little bit. Now that you’ve pinned enough items, you should start to see a theme going on. Go through now, and unpin everything that doesn’t relate to that theme. This can be:

  • Pins that are the wrong color
  • Pins that have a different “feel” than what you’re going for (i.e. if you’re going for a bold and edgy look, but have pins that are soft and feminine)
  • Misleading quotes
  • Anything that doesn’t evoke the same “brand messaging” qualities you listed above!

 

CONCLUSION

It can take a while to get used to pinning a board that is exactly what you want – but with practice, you’ll get to where you want to be in no time. Depending on your designer’s process, they may use these images to create a mood board (of about 5 images) that narrows down on what your visual brand inspiration even more before starting the design process.
